Building Success: Gideon Constructors’ Role in Walmart’s Symbotic Automation Program

Gideon Constructors, president, Brett Diamon has been working in the construction industry for over 20 years. Throughout his career, he has developed long-lasting partnerships within the construction industry. Those relationships provided an opportunity for Gideon Constructors to subcontract (self-perform) on a distribution center modification in Douglas, GA for Walmart as part of their Symbotic Automation Program, to add automation to all of Walmart’s 42 regional distribution centers.

The initial project’s scope of work included structural steel modifications, temporary safety walls, painting, and guardrail installation. Project scopes now comprise:

  • Structural and miscellaneous steel work,
  • Site work and utilities,
  • Demolition,
  • Temporary partition walls,
  • Pre-engineered metal building enclosures, additions, and modifications,
  • Doors, frames, and hardware,
  • Overhead doors,
  • Metal framing and insulation, and
  • Painting.

All steel work was provided through Gideon’s fabrication facility located in Johnson City, TN.

Gideon has the capacity and experience to self-perform everything.

Over the past 18 months, Gideon has completed 31 self-performed projects across the country spanning 11 states. One of our most recent projects included the climatization of a 1.2-million-square-foot distribution center.
